MOVING CHRISTMAS VILLAGE – a wooden Christmas village with a hand-turned train and carousel. Laser cut files, instant digital download. LED light strings and batteries are NOT included.

THIS IS A DIGITAL DOWNLOAD. You get laser cut files and a picture assembly guide. No physical item is shipped.

WHAT IT IS
A little chapel with its tower and spire stands on top of a hill, with a timber house and a cottage beside it. Below it lies the market square with a carousel, a market stall, carol singers, lamp posts, a bench, a snowman and fir trees. A steam train (engine, tender, gift wagon and tree wagon) runs round the hill and through its two tunnels.
Finished size in 3 mm material: 384 x 333 x 368 mm (15.1 x 13.1 x 14.5 in), width x depth x height.
Finished size in 4 mm material: 384 x 333 x 374 mm (15.1 x 13.1 x 14.7 in), width x depth x height.

IT MOVES – BY HAND, NO MOTOR
Hold the carousel by the rim of its roof and turn it slowly. Never turn it by the star on top. Gears hidden in the base turn the ring under the track, and the train runs round the village. Two turns of the carousel make one lap of the train.

IT LIGHTS UP – LED LIGHTS ONLY
Made for battery LED fairy-light strings. The strings and the batteries are NOT included (see NOT INCLUDED below).
– String A: about 3 m, at least 31 lights. One light sits behind each snowflake of the base, the last one in the right lamp post.
– String B: about 2 m, 20 lights. It lights the houses, the chapel, the market stall and the inside of the hill; spare lights stay coiled inside the hill.
– Battery boxes go in a room behind the hatch at the back. Use boxes up to 67 x 35 x 20 mm (2.6 x 1.4 x 0.8 in) each (a box for 2 x AA batteries or a CR2032 coin-cell box): two such boxes fit side by side. Boxes for 3 x AA batteries do not fit.
– A coin-cell LED under the carousel roof is optional.
Use LED lights only. Never put candles or tealights in, under or next to this village.

NOT INCLUDED – PLEASE READ
– The LED light strings are NOT included.
– Batteries and battery boxes are NOT included.
– Wood, wood glue, wax and any finish are not included.
– Shown painted as an example; paint not included.

WHAT YOUR LASER NEEDS
– A bed of at least 300 x 300 mm (11.8 x 11.8 in). This file does not fit a 300 x 200 mm bed.
– Every sheet must be at least 298 mm (11.7 in) wide. All sheets are 300 mm wide; the ring gear and the track ring are one piece each. The last sheet of each thickness is a shorter strip, so an offcut will do.
– 3 mm (1/8 in) or 4 mm (5/32 in) plywood. Use one thickness for the whole village.
– Engraved lines are at least 0.25 mm wide (finer lines may not burn cleanly on every laser).

WHAT YOU GET
– Two complete file sets: one for 3 mm and one for 4 mm material. The 3 mm set has 10 sheets, all 300 mm wide (the last is 300 x 140 mm); the 4 mm set has 10 sheets (the last is 300 x 170 mm). Small parts sit tightly nested inside the big rings.
– A small fit-test coupon and three small fit pages (tight, normal, loose). You cut the coupon first and then only the one fit page it picks.
– Formats: SVG, DXF, PDF, EPS and AI, for both thicknesses. Cut lines come in cut-order colours, engraving in black, glue guides in green and part numbers in blue.
– A 77-page step-by-step picture guide for each thickness (its own PDF file): a picture for every build step, sheet maps, the light wiring and a number for every part that matches the sheets.
These are standard vector files that laser and vector software can open, for example LightBurn, xTool Creative Space, Glowforge, Illustrator and Inkscape.

CUT THE COUPON FIRST
Lasers and wood vary. The coupon tells you which fit page (tight T, normal N or loose L) suits your laser and your wood, so the carousel turns smoothly on its axle. Every joint, the gears and the moving train were checked in 3D software for fit, clearance, sturdiness and build order.

GOOD TO KNOW
– Cut at 100% size, do not resize. Not suitable for blade cutters.
– You will need: wood glue, a little wax (paraffin or beeswax) for the ring, the two LED strings and their batteries.
– A decoration, not a toy. Keep small parts and coin cells away from small children.
– The files are for your own use. You may not resell, share or give away the digital files.
